Concuurrent use increases risk of blood dyscrasias with azothioprine, methotrexate, pyrimethamine,
Increased risk of hyponatraemia when used with both pot-sparing diuretics and thiazides
Increases risk of bleeding with warfarin Increase risk of lithium toxicity Increases digoxin, phenytoin, procainamide , lamivudine, stavudine, repaglidine, rosaglitazone, dofetilide serum levels Decrease ciclosporin levels
Concurrent use with with dapsone increase serum levels of both and increases risk of dapsone toxicity
Concurrent use may potentiate antidiabetic effect of sulphonylureas Concurent use increases risk of dyscrasiasis with clozapine and pyrimethazine
Indication:
Respiratory tract infections Skin infections. Urinary tract infections Ear, nose, throat infections
Adverse Reaction:
Nausea, vomiting Anorexia, diarrhoea, glossitis Stomatistis, Drowsiness, headche, deptession, hallucinations, Hypersensitivity, skin reactions, Drug fever, crystalluria, Elevation of liver enzymes, Hypothyroidism, hyponatemia, Hyperkalemia, kernicterus in premature neonate, Aseptic menignitis, chloestatic jaundice, Anaphylaxis, Stvens- Johnson syndrome Blood dyscrasis eg agranulocytosis, Aplastic anemia, Toxic epidural necrolysis
Contra-Indications:
Hypersentivity to sulfonamides Severe renal or hepatic mpairment Porphyria, SLE, Serious hzaematogical disorders
Megaloblastic anemia Secondary to folate depletion Infants < 2mths Pregnancy ( 3rd trimester ) Lactation
Special precautions-
Renal insufficiency , elderly, blood dysctasis, G6PD deficiency, Patients with folatev defeciency Child with fragile chromosome associated with mental retardation Perform regular haematological examination

Dosage-
Initially 2 tabs followed by 1 tab bid
Pregnancy and lactation:
Observe caution if required to be administered during pregnancy and lactation Pregnancy ( 3rd trimester ) Lactation
