Pharmacology:
Studies were conducted with diclfenac-gentamicn or diclofenac alone. The result of the study showed that the efficacy of diclofenac-gentamicn combination eye drops was similar that of diclofenac eye drops in the management of post cataract surgery intraocular inflammation. Also, the study demonstrated that addition of gentamicin to diclofenac in combination eye drops did not interfere with the efficacy of topical diclofenac in controlling inflammation in cataract surgery.
The sudy concludes that dicofenac-gentamicin combinatin eye drops is as effective as diclofenac eye drops and appears to be acceptably tolerated in the control of post cataract surgery inflammation. It can be useful alternative to the commonly used steroid antibiotic combination.
