Drug Interaction:
CNS depressants-
Opoid analgesics, general anesthetics, sedatives, tranquilisers, hypnotics or other CNS depressant (including alcohol) admnistered concomittantly with dezocine may have an additive effect. Reduce dose of one or both, if combination therapy is contemplated.
Adverse Reaction:
Hypotension, heart or pulse irregularity, hypertension, chest pain, palor, thrombophlebitis Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain. Body sweating,chills,flushing, low haemoglobin, edema.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug Special precautions:
Head injury and increased intracranial pressure- use with extreme caution. Administer with caution and in low doses to patients with pre-existing respiratory depression. Dezocine alters the tonic pressure within the common bile duct- use with caution in biliary surgery.
patients on dezocine should not drive or operate dangerous machinery. Product contain sodium metabisulphite,a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life threatening or less severe asthamitic episodes.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Dosage: IM- single dose of 5 to 20mg(usual( 10mg). Adjust dose based on patients weight,age,severity of pain.
Max dose is 20mg; probably upper limit of 120mg/day. IV- 2.5 to 10mg repeated every 2 to 4 hours. Initial dose is 5mg.
Children- Not recommended for patients below 18 years. Storage: Store at room temp and protect from light. Do not use if the solution contains a precipitate.

Pharmacology:
Dezocine is a strong synthetic opoid agonist-antagonist parentral analgesic of aminotetralin series. Its analgesic potency onset and duration of action and relief is comparable to morphine.
Metabolism: About two third of a dose is recovered in the urine.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Pregnancy:
No adequate and well controlled studies done on pregnant women. Use during pregnancy only if needed.
Lactation:
Use of dozicine in nursing mothers is not recommended.
