Indications-
used to counteract the folate-antagonist action of methotrexate and
thus speed up recovery from methotrexate -induced mucositisis or
myelosuppression( folinic acid rescue)
Adverse Reaction:
Side effects-
rarely pyrexia after parantral use,
insomnia, agitation anddepression after high dose
Contra-Indications:
Contraindication-
intrathecal injection
Caution-
avoid simultaneous adminstration of methotrexate
not indicated for pernicious anaemias or other megaloblastic anaemias
caused by vitamin B12 defeciency reactions
