Dosage-
Initial therapy- 250mg  2 or 3 times /day in the first 48 hours. adjust dosage at intervals of
not less than 2 days until an adqeute response is acheived.

To minimize sedation increase dosage in the evening.

By adjustment of dosage morning hypotension may be prevented without sacrificing
control of afternoon blood pressure 

Maintanace therapy- 500mg to 2g/day in 2 or 4 doses.
The maximum recommended daily dose is 3g .

Once an effective range is attained a smooth blood pressure response occurs in most
patients in 12 to 24 hours.
