Renal function impairment - dihydroergotamine is contraindicated in patients with
severely impaired renal function
Hepatic function impairment- dihydroergotamine is contraindicated in patients with
severely impaired hepatic function

Dosage-
Nasal spray-
Maximum dose - doses greater than 3mg in a 24 hour period and 4mg in a 7 day period
Adult- one spray ( 0.5mg ) should be administered in each nostril .
fiteen minutes later an additional spray of (0.5mg ) may be administered in each nostril
for a total dosage of 4 sprays (2mg )
Administration- the solution used in dihydroergotamine nnasal spray ( 4mg/4ml ) is
intended for intranasal use and must not be injected
Prior to administration the pump must be primed( ie. squeeze 4 times) before use.
Once the nasal spray applicator has been prepared it should be discarded ( with any
remaining drug in open ampule ) after 8 hours.
