Insulin glulisine is a recombinant insulin that has been shown to be equipotent, to human insulin.One unit of insulin glulisine has the same glucose-lowering effect as 1 unit of regular human insulin when given intravenously.

When given subcutaneously, insulin glulisine has a more rapid onset and shorter duration of
action than regular human insulin

The dosage of insulin should be individualised . Blood monitoring is essenial in all patients
receiving insulin therapy

The total daily requirements may vary and is usually between 0.5 and 1 unit/kg/day.
Insulin requirements may be altered during stress, major illness, or change in excercise.
