+Meningococcal Vaccine
Measles (Rubeola ) reduced seroconversion rate to meningococci occur with vaccine concurrent immunization.
Indication:
Prophylaxis against cerebro-spinal menigingtis due to meningocococci of A& C groups
Adverse Reaction:
Systemic- Headache 1.2 to 4.1% Malaise < 2.6% Fever 0.4% to 3.1%
Chills < 1.7%
Local- Tenderness 24.2 to 29.1% Pain 17,5 to 25%.
Erythema 0.8% to 31.7% Induration 4.8 to 8.3%
Contra-Indications:
Acute illness, pregnancy
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Prophylaxis against cerebro-spinal menigingtis due to meningocococci of A& C groups Routine vaccination- at risk of epidemic ot highly endemic areas
Dosage-
Inject SC- avoid injecting intraderdermally or IV Immunization dose is one SC injection of 0.5ml

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
meningococcal vaccine. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you
are allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Meningococcal vaccine has not been shown to cause birth defects or problems
in humans.
3. Breast-feeding-
Meningococcal vaccine has not been reported to cause problems in nursing
babies.
4.Children-
Use of meningococcal vaccine is not recommended in infants and children
younger than 2 years of age.
5.Older adults-
Although there is no specific information comparing use of meningococcal
vaccine in the elderly with use in other age groups this medicine is not
expected to cause different side effects in older people than in younger
adults.
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following-
Cancer medicines or
Corticosteroids or
Radiation therapy- may reduce the usefulness of the vaccine
7. Other medical problems-
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Severe illness with fever- symptoms of thecondition may be confused with
the possible side effects of the vaccine
