Adverse Reaction:
Rapid I.V. admin can cause hypotension, bradycardia, arrhythmias and convulsion.
Thrombosis Thrombi formed during treatment are not lysed.
Nausea,abdominal cramps,diarrhoea,nasal stuffiness, rash, headache, dizziness, diuresis, tinnitus, conjuntival suffusion, rarely myopathy and muscle necrosis.
Contra-Indications:
Evidence of active intravascular clotting process.
Special precautions:
Establish firm diagnosis of hyper-fibrolysis before therapy.
Avoid rapid adminn, pregnancy, lactation, renal faiure, cardiac disorders.

ALSO KNOWN AS MESALAMINE- 5-ASA
1. Allergies- tell your doctor if you ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to mesalamie or any of food articles, preservatives or other substances.
2. Pregnancy- not studied in pregnant women , however has shown to cause birth defects or other problems in nursing babies.
3. Breast feeding-may pass into breat milk, however not shown to cause cause problems in nursing babies
4. Children- studies done only in adults , no specific information comparing use of mesalamine in children with use in other age groups.
5. Older adults- not studied specificaly in older people. No information comparing use of mesalamine in the elderly with use in other age groups.
6. Other medicines- Tell your healthcare professional if you are using any other medicines or OTC products.
7. Other medical problems- Tell your doctor if you are having any other medical problems especially - Kidney disease
8.Dosing- dosing will be different for different patients- follow your doctors advice Take this medicine for full time time of treatmet even if you begin to feel better after a few days. Do not miss any dose.
Extended release form
Adults- 1g 4 times a day upto 8 weeks
Children- dose to be dtermined by the doctor
9. Missed dose - if you happen to miss a dose take it as soon as possible. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back the normal schedule. Do not double doses.
10. Storage- Keep out of reach of children Store away from heat and direct light Keep the enema from freezing Keep te suppositories atroom temperature Do not keep outdated medicine no longer in use. Be sure that that any discarded medicine is kept out of reach of children.
