Indication-
Laxative
Dosage:
Adults- 240mg daily until bowel movements are normal.
Children(more than 6 years) and adult with minimum needs 50 to 150mg daily.

LAXATIVES- REFER BISACODYL
1. General- Laxatives are to be used to provide short term relief only, unless othewise directed by your doctor.
2. Allergies- Tell your doctor if you ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to laxatives. Also tell your doctor if you are allergic to any food or preservatives or dyes.
3. Diet- Tell your doctor if you are on a special diet such as low sodium diet or low sugar diet . Some laxatives have large amounts of sodium or sugars in them.
4. Children- laxatives should not be given to young children ( up to 6 years of age) unless prescribed by the doctor. Since children usually cannot describe their symptoms very well they should be checked by a doctor before giving a laxative
5. Older patients- meneral oil should not be given to bed ridden elderly persons because a form of pneumonia may be caused by the inhaltion of oil droplets into the lungs. Also stimulants laxatives (eg.bisacodyl, casanthrol or phenolphthalein ) if taken too often may worsen weakness , lack of coordiation or dizzinees and lightheadedness
6. Other medicines - make sure you tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines especially - Anticoagulants oral ,or Digitalis glycosides,use of magnesium contg laxatives may reduce the effects of these medicines.
7. Other medical problems- make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems especially - Appendicitics or Rectal bleedig or unknown cause -
8. Dosing- Follow your doctors orders or follow the istruction given on the box.
9. Storage - Keep out of reach of children. Store away from heat or direct sunlight. Do not store the medicines in bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places.
10.Outdated medicines - Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded medicine is kept out of reach of children.
