Urea ointment
For debriment of nectrotic tissues
Adverse Reaction:
Local irritation, sensitisation.
Headache similar to to those following lumbar puncture. nausea, vomting, syncope, disoreintation transcient agitated confusional states
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens. Severely impaired renal function, active intracranial bleeding, marked dehydration.
Special precautions: Keep away from eyes.
Electrolyte imbalance - urea use may cause depletion of electrolyte leading to hyponatremia and hypokalemia
Renal function impairment - Administer with caution Hepatic function impairment - Administer with caution
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:

Dosage:
Administer as a 30% solution by slow IV infusion at a rate not to exceed 4 ml/minute.. Do not exceed 120g/day. Adult - 0.5 to 1.5 g/kg
Children- 0.5 to 1.5 g/kg. in children upto 2 years of age. Aa littlle as 0.1 g/kg maybe adequte.

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
urea. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic to any other
substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2. Teenagers-
Although there is no specific information comparing use of urea in teenagers
with use in other age groups, this medicine is not expected to cause different
side effects or problems in teenagers than it does in adults.
3. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
4. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of urea.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Diabetes mellitus
Fibroid tumors of the uterus
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Sickle cell disease
Interaction with Food:
Not applicable
Pregnancy and lactation:
Pregnancy- use only when clearly needed .
Lactation- Excercise caution when administering to a nursing mother
