Enhances sedative effect of alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, sedatives. Antimuscurinic action potentiated by MAOIs, atropine and tricyclic antidepressants.

Adverse Reaction:
CNS depression. Paradoxical CNS excitation may occur especially in children, Dry mouth, thickened secretions of respiratory tract, Blurring of vision, Urinary retension, constipation, Bradycardia, followed by tachycardia and arrhythmias, Photosensitivity, blood dyscrasias, Headache. Hypotension, tinnitus and parathesias.
Contra-Indications:
Premature infants, neonates, closed angle angle glaucoma, obstruction of bladder neck and GIT.
Special precautions: Elderly and driving and other hazardous tasks, avoid alcohol, epilepsy and severe CVS disease.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications: Allergic conditions Dosage:: Adults - 2mg every 4 to 6 hours or 4 to 6mg time released tablets at bed time or every 8 to 10 hours during the day.
Children(6 to 11 years)- 1mg every 4 to 6 hours or a 4mg time released once dailyat bed time.
Children-(2 to 5 years)- 0.5mg every 4 to 6 hours. Do not use time released form.
