Indications:
To control non-productive cough
Dosage:
Adults and children(more than 12 years old)- 10 to 30mg every 4 to 8 hours. Do not exceed 120mg in 24 hours.
Children
(6 to 12 years)- 5 to 10mg every 4 hours or 15mg every 6 to 8 hours.Do not exceed 60mg in 24 hours.

Patient Information:
1. Allergies- Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reactions to dextromethorphan or other related medicines. Also tell your doctor if youn are allergic to any other substances such as foods, preservatives or dyes.
2. Diet- make sure that your doctor knows if you are on a low salt sodium, low sugar or any other special diet.
3. Pregnancy- dextromethorphan has not been to cause birth defects or other problems in humans.
4. Breast feeding- dextromethorphan has not been reported to cause problems to nursing babies
5. Children- has not shown to casue different side effects or problems than it does in adults.
6. Elderly- no specific information comparing use of dextromethorphan in the elderly in other age groups 6. Other medicines- tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following- Central nervous system CNS depressants- effects of either medicines or dextromethorphan may be increased MAO oxidase inhibitors- -taking dextromethorphan if you are taking MAO inhibitors or taken them within the past 2 weeks may cause coma, dizziness, excited or unusual behaviour , fever, high blood pressure nausea, sluggishness, spasms, and tremors
7. Other medical problems- tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems- Asthma- since dextromethorphan decreases coughing it makes it difficult to get rid of the mucus that collect in thelungs and lungs during asthma Liver disease- dextromethorphan may build up n the body and cause unwanted effects. Mucus of phlem with cough- since dextromethorphan decreases coughing it makes it difficult to get rid of the mucus that collect in the lungs and airways with some diseases
8. Missed dose- If you miss a dose of this medicine take it as soon as possible. However if it is almost time for your next dose go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
